Overpopulation is one of the biggest threats to our planet, even more quickly causing the denial of our planet's resources as the years continue. As more and more people inhabit this small planet, it continues to be swindled of what limited materials that remains. What we’ll soon be left with in no less than 60 years is a dried, desiccated remainder of what used to be a luscious green planet. As undesirable as overpopulation is, we can't deny it's existence. Though there are many factors to the quickly increasing rate, not all off them are caused by giving birth to too many children. One other major cause is the lifespan of the human increasing due to recent technological enhancements. Children are being born much faster than humans can die, leading to an escalating population. In third world countries, families are giving birth to children because these children can take care of them when they grow old, otherwise they will face a desperate future. In first world countries, we have nursing homes and don't necessarily have to worry about this problem (Children). By the year 2060, our planet will be covered with 12 million people, the majority in poverty ridden 3rd world countries. Earth only carries the capacity for 10 million people before we fall short of food and planetary resources because of it’s size constraints and how much food we can actually produce. If humanity agreed to reduce the amount of livestock we ate since they take lots of resources to supplement, we would be able to properly feed 10 million people. Unfortunately, this is not the case, leaving Earth with the room to feed only 2 and a half million omnivores (Wolchover). About a ninth of our planet are people living in extreme poverty, not being provided with enough food or water to sustain themselves or a healthy lifestyle. (Hunger Statistics). I think this is detrimental to society because too many people and not enough resources leads to a decline in economy. Not only in 3rd world countries, but first world countries will experience the effect of degeneration of materials like metal, or wood becoming more scarce. If we don't start to adjust out current lifestyle to a world with limited resources, we'll run out of available resources even quicker. Life will become a futile world full of finding ways to tackle survival when the world is plummeting downhill. If we don't start to put in effort, life will surely become troublesome. When you say "In third world countries, families are giving birth to children because these children can take care of them when they grow old, otherwise they will face a desperate future.", aren't they also giving birth to children because they don't have access to proper contraception? Also, replace every instance of "million" with "Billion" in your 1st post. Otherwise, I like it a lot. You may want to talk more about why its a problem specifically in later posts, but I loved the voice and scope of your writing.

*EDIT* your last paragraph shows up now, and I love the way you made the case for why its a problem so strongly.
